Ted Wizard Mills Singer/songwriter/Arranger sang lead vocals for Blue who are best known for dreamy Philly Soul ballads. Ted’s million-selling voice isfeatured on "Sideshow,” "Spell on My Mind," "What's ComeOver Me," and "Three Ring Circus." He also wrote the classicfavorites: "Chasing Rainbows" and arranged the classic love song LoveWon’t Let Me Wait for Atlantic Records.”  With Ted Mills as lead singer, Blue Magicbecame one of the most popular Philadelphia R&B Grammy-nominated groups.They were chosen as the best new group of the year which earned Ted Mills twoEbony Awards. The first award was presented by Aretha Franklin at Radio City inNew York. 

 

Ted isthe son of Jazz musician Edward Mills. He was named Wizard by his motherEstelle. Born in Delaware, he moved to Philadelphia, and at the age of 7 he began his formalmusical development by entering a school for young drummers. After learning toread and write and play drum music, at age 13 Ted began to learn piano. At age16 he recorded his first record while he performed with a group called TheTopic. At age 20, Randy Cain of The Delfonics, known best for "Didn't IBlow Your Mind," took Mills to the offices of WMOT Productions sohe could become a staff songwriter.

 

Ted waslater introduced to Gamble & Huff, Norman Harris and Linda Creed. Shortlyafter, Ted received additional musical training from the Musical masterTom Bell.

Withthe help of Norman Harris Ted produced his first Gold record “Spell on myMind.” Followed by another Gold record, “What’sCome Over Me” from his debut Blue Magic album. “What’s Come Over Me” wasremixed with recording artist Margie Joseph, and climbed to the top 10 on theR&B charts catapulting to Golf for the second time.

Whenthe production was complete Blue Magic was born. Ted recorded 10 projects withBlue Magic.  Ted recorded with MickJagger and The “Rolling Stones.”  As wellas, “Earth Wind & Fire” who played the music tracks for Blue Magic’s“Message from the Magic” project.

 

TedWizard Mills continues to perform in concert with his great band. In 2016, TedMills sold out 2 nights at the Gold Reef Casino in Johannesburg South Africa andwill be returning to South Africa February 2017.
